Ok, let’s face it. Many of us are having to make something that was an occasional thing into a daily routine. You have probably seen many emails, news stories and posts from friends on social media about how life has changed – either for the better or the worse – when trying to work from home. We get this and let me assure you that at JMARK – we got this.
What am I saying? Well, the technology business is very accustomed to working away from the office. Many of us don’t think anything different about packing up our laptops and heading off to a client’s, a meeting or to our house. I personally have been amazed at how fast I can pack up my stuff and head out. I think that comes from having worked remotely at a client site until the last minute and needing to head to the airport. However, setting up a more permanent home office is a bit different. So, here are some ideas on things to consider for that. For simplicity purposes, I am calling these items “Thingamajiggers” and below are 7 of them that JMARK can provide for your home office nirvana.
1. A Cool 27 inch HP Monitor
I know. 27 inches seems like a lot. Especially when many of us remember when a 17-inch monitor was big. However, we have a lot more stuff we work on now – AT THE SAME TIME. Multiple spreadsheets, browser tabs and emails, just to name a few. That is why it is nice to have the extra real estate. Plus, the strain on your eyes is less with a larger screen, and you will make fewer trips to the coffee pot over in the kitchen to combat drowsiness.
This monitor is intended for the healthcare industry but will work anywhere. It is also designed for easy, repeatable sanitation, which is appealing considering the times we are in and if any of you have kids, well, you can remove those fingerprints quite easily.
Cost is $215. Quantities are limited since these are in high demand.
2. An Adjustable Stand-Up Desk
You have probably seen them in ads. You might even have one at the office. This is a way to not always be sitting at a desk. My wife tells me I sit on my butt all day during my job, but that is another story. The point is that with this, you can create an ergonomic work area to allow you to stretch and work from a different angle. Salespeople know that you have more energy to negotiate when you are standing. Why not negotiate one of these thingamajiggers. The great thing is that it sits on top of an existing desk and you adjust the height as needed.
Cost is $425 to support a single monitor and $475 to support dual monitors.
3. Stereo Bluetooth headset with Active Noise Canceling
Working from home can be challenging with hard to control noises. Dogs barking. Kids playing. The neighbors are getting their roof done or even worse, they are cutting down trees with enough chainsaws making you think that Paul Bunyon himself is outside. Enter these comfortable headsets. When you are not on the phone, you can listen to the tunes that keep you focused. Plus, if you need to get up to work at the stand-up desk you purchased above or you need to stay on a conference call but fill up the water bottle – you can do that, as long as it is within 100 feet, which unless your home office is out in the garage, it should work well. Additionally, you can set it up to work with you mobile phone.
Cost is $195. Less than that pair of Beats headphones your kid wants so badly. Plus you will look cool.
4. Stylish LED Desk Lamp with USB and Night Light
Ok, so you have might have a keyboard that lights up. Or maybe not. I bet you don’t have a desk light like this at your office. You can be the envy of your crew when they see how you are lighting the way to success.
Select desired light mode from three adjustable light temperatures for warm White, Bright White or Cool Daylight. Each light temperature mode is dimmable. Intelligent memory restores last setting when lamp is turned back on. It also has a USB plug so you can keep your mobile phone charged.
Cost is $60. Come on. You know you want one.
5. A Personal Battery Backup Device
This is power when you need it most. As I write this, there are thunderstorms brewing out west. It is springtime, and it only takes a blip and you could have lost hours of productivity if the power goes out. Of course, you might have a laptop and figure you will be fine. However, what about that second monitor you are using? Maybe you have that nice LED desk lamp at your desk and it is now dark? A lot of power outages last only a brief period of time so this unit should give you enough juice to either let you finish what you were working on or at least save it for later. In addition to providing some peace of mind, it is a surge protector to protect from spikes or under voltage when power fluctuates, thereby protecting your electronics.
Cost is $70. We all want power. Here is your chance to keep it.
6. Print, Scan and Copy
For decades now, we have been told that print is dead. Looking at all the paper on my desk causes me to LOL. I mean literally, Laugh. Out. Loud. Many of us work in regulated industries when items need to still be printed, scanned, copied and yes, even faxed. This device from HP does all of that – plus, it prints on both sides of the page without you needing to figure out which way to put the page back in the printer to print out the second page. It prints up to 30 pages per minute and is from HP, the leader in printing and imaging technology.
Cost is $240. This is a black and white printer. If you want color, just ask.
7. Universal Docking Station
It is so nice to be able to get to work right away when you are mobile. Having a docking station helps you achieve that goal. Keep all your accessories like the monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc. plugged in. All you need to do is connect one USB 3.0 cable to the computer and presto, change! You are live and in color. No more fussing with cables and accidentally jamming a cable into the wrong port. Be at ease and sit back, ready to tackle the day.
Cost is $115. Get one today to complete your home office setup.
Time to Get to Work
There are many other “thingamajiggers” you could get such as wireless keyboard, mice, foot warmers and fans, just to name a few. I have simply highlighted a few for your consideration. Hopefully, you will enjoy some or all of these as you slay the dragons and help your company to not miss a beat in these challenging times. I wish you much success at your home office and may it be a productive area that you look forward to coming to each day.
NOTE: Pricing above is subject to applicable sales tax and shipping. Product availability varies. Order soon due to demand is increasing.
