Thomas H. Douglas

In 1988, James Montgomery Jr. founded a small computer company in Cabool, Missouri. James named the company JMARK because for much of his life, he signed his name as 'JM JR' in a bit of a non legible scribble that became known as the 'J' mark among his friends. Later, when it came time for James to name his small computer company, JMARK was the obvious choice.

After continued steady success, in 1996, JMARK moved its corporate presence to Springfield as part of an acquisition of NetPro another computer and training company. This acquisition increased the client base of JMARK by more than two times and expanded its geographic reach to a 200 mile radius of Springfield.

In 1997 Thomas H. Douglas joined the company as a level one engineer. After a short period of acclimation from the US Navy, Tom's leadership skills earned him the title of service manager of the company. In 1999, Tom became President and eventually majority owner of JMARK with business partners Tom Goss, Kerry Douglas and Max Roweton.

In 2001, JMARK was re-incorporated under the full name of JMARK Business Solutions, Inc.. It had become evident, to Tom, that the model of trading hours fixing computers for client dollars was an unpredictable and somewhat painful business model and he knew change was necessary. JMARK became one of the first in our industry to focus on flat fee based services. The flat fee provided the client with as much service as required to support their business network and doing so with unprecedented quality of service.

JMARK's success in providing these Managed Services combined with the addition of business partners, Doug Deetz and Brenda Blades, put in motion a growth trend that continues to thrive. In 2008, JMARK acquired competitors NetWorks, Inc. and NetManage, Inc. The acquisition led to several million dollars in additional revenue being supported by the 39 full time employees.

In December 2009, JMARK Business Solutions Inc., was listed 137th Globally, on Nine Lives Media Inc.'s third annual MSPmentor survey. This distinguished research report identified the world's most progressive managed service provider's world wide. The free MSPmentor report is based on data from MSPmentor's global online survey. The survey basis was the number of devices supported, total revenues, revenue derived from Managed Services and the number of employees.

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce named JMARK Business Solutions, Inc. as a top five finalist for the 2009 W. Curtis Strube Small Business Award. This award is presented annually to a Chamber member small business that exhibits staying power, response to adversity, innovative products or services, business philosophy and contributions to the community.

JMARK Business Solutions, Inc. continues to grow in revenue and employees even during this time of economic challenges. With its total of 21 network engineers, specialists and support team, JMARK is the largest locally owned provider of premium technical services in Missouri.
